Prompt
(Make AI module prompt) From this newsletter issue, pick the single most useful idea and rewrite it as a standalone LinkedIn post of about 170 words. It must make sense to someone who never read the newsletter. Add one line at the end inviting readers to subscribe, with the link. How to do it
- Mint a key Create a Make key scoped to LinkedIn with the draft permission.
- Watch the newsletter Trigger on a new issue from your newsletter tool's RSS feed or webhook.
- Rewrite Use an AI module with the prompt above.
- HTTP > Make a request POST https://app.socialhandoff.com/v1/posts with an Authorization: Bearer header and a JSON body of body, networks set to linkedin, and mode set to submit.
- Approve Review the draft in the inbox and approve when it reads well on its own.
Example draft
Most teams write meeting notes for the people who were there. The people who need them are the ones who were not. A simple fix we started using: every note opens with 3 lines. What we decided. Who owns the next step. What we still do not know. Everything else, the discussion and the options we dropped, goes below. People who missed the meeting read 3 lines and know where things stand. People who were there have a record they can point to. It takes about 2 extra minutes per meeting. I write one idea like this every week: https://example.com/newsletter
Gotchas
- Newsletters use bold, headers, and links in the text. LinkedIn shows plain text only, so strip formatting in the AI step.
- Only the first image is used on LinkedIn. Pick the header image deliberately rather than sending the first image in the issue.
- Keep the body under 3,000 characters; long newsletter excerpts hit the length guardrail.
- Character limit: 3,000 characters for a post. The feed shows the first few lines and hides the rest behind a see more link.
- Media per post: LinkedIn allows multi-image posts, documents, and video. SocialHandoff publishes 1 image per post.
- Alt text: Supported on images through the API's alt text field. Not available for video or documents.
- Threads: LinkedIn has no threads. If a draft has several parts, SocialHandoff joins them into one post.
Frequently asked questions
Can one scenario draft for LinkedIn and X together?
Yes. Make two HTTP calls with network-specific text, or one call with both networks if the text fits both. Each is checked against its own limits.
Is there a native Make app?
Use the HTTP module against the REST API. The OpenAPI document at /openapi.json describes every endpoint.
