Where they match and where they don't
Networks
Both publish to X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Mastodon and Threads. SocialHandoff also reaches Instagram (professional accounts), Facebook Pages and TikTok, which Typefully does not list. On X, SocialHandoff posts reply-chain threads with up to 4 media and counts characters with X's weighted 280-character rule. On Bluesky it respects the 300-grapheme limit and makes links, mentions and tags clickable.
Editor versus inbox
Typefully's core screen is an editor. SocialHandoff's core screen is an approval inbox: approve, reject, request edits or edit inline, with a 60-second undo on publish-now and a dry-run preview.
Agent access
Typefully's MCP server uses OAuth and focuses on drafts. SocialHandoff offers MCP over stdio and HTTP with tools like plan_week, draft_post, schedule_post and get_insights, plus UI cards for calendar, approval and analytics. Each agent gets its own key, and only owners can approve.
Controls
SocialHandoff adds guardrails, a kill switch, a trust ladder and a hash-chained audit log. Typefully offers team collaboration features on its team plans.

Pricing
We could not verify Typefully's current prices from its pricing page on our check date, so we do not quote figures here. SocialHandoff Starter is $19/month for 5 channels and 2 agents, with a 14-day trial and a free self-host option. Check Typefully's page and compare on your own channel count; the plans differ in scope as well as price.
Switching
There is no Typefully importer. Connect your accounts in SocialHandoff, move your agent's MCP config to the SocialHandoff server, and recreate scheduled drafts. Writers can keep Typefully for hand-written threads, while agents send their drafts to SocialHandoff for review.
Who should pick which
A founder who enjoys writing threads and posts a few times a week should keep Typefully. A small team that has handed first drafts to Claude or a scripted agent, and now spends its time reviewing, should look at SocialHandoff. The two can coexist: human posts through Typefully, agent drafts through SocialHandoff, as long as you watch for timing clashes on the same account.
