Where Zoho Social is strong
- Very broad network list, including Mastodon, Bluesky, Threads, Instagram, TikTok, and more.
- A free plan, plus an official MCP server that lets agents draft, schedule, and publish.
- Tight integration with Zoho CRM and the wider Zoho suite, with the Zia AI assistant.
Where teams outgrow it
- Content approval workflows are limited to Premium and agency plans, according to its plan comparison.
- No self-hosted edition; USD prices vary by region and were not shown on the pricing page when checked.
Why people look for a Zoho Social alternative
Zoho Social does a lot for its price: publishing to a long list of networks (including Mastodon and Bluesky), monitoring, reports, the Zia assistant, and an MCP server so agents can draft and schedule. People who look elsewhere usually have one of these reasons:
- They are not on Zoho. Much of Zoho Social's value comes from links to Zoho CRM and the rest of the suite.
- They need approval on a smaller plan. Zoho's plan comparison lists content approval on Premium and agency plans.
- They need to self-host or read the code. Zoho Social is cloud only.
When Zoho Social is the right answer
Stay if you are already a Zoho customer. The CRM integration is hard to replace. Stay if you need YouTube, Pinterest, or WhatsApp Business, none of which SocialHandoff supports yet. And stay if monitoring, listening, and team reports matter; SocialHandoff offers only per-post metrics.
What SocialHandoff gives you
SocialHandoff is an approval layer between AI agents and your social accounts. It is built around the idea that an agent is a new kind of author who should earn trust.
- Every agent gets its own key, scoped to networks and to permissions. Rotate or revoke one without touching the others.
- Approval on every plan. A draft waits in the inbox until a person approves it, unless you have promoted that agent on that network.
- Guardrails stop banned topics, over-length posts, missing alt text, and blocked link shorteners before they reach you.
- A verifiable audit log, hash-chained so you can prove nothing was altered. See the audit log guide.
- Open source under AGPL-3.0. Run it on your own servers with Docker Compose. See self-hosting.
Networks today: X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Mastodon, Threads, Instagram, Facebook Pages, and TikTok.
Questions to ask before moving
Do you use Zoho CRM data in your social workflow? Which plan do you need for approvals in your region? Do auditors ask how posts were approved? If the answers are no, a lot, and yes, a standalone approval layer with a verifiable log may serve you better than a suite plan.
