Prompt
Read my brand memory first. Then write a LinkedIn post for founders about the hardest hire I made this year: a first salesperson before we had a repeatable pitch. About 180 words, short paragraphs, one lesson at the end, no hashtags. Draft it for LinkedIn for Wednesday 8:30 Europe/London. How to do it
- Create a LinkedIn key In https://app.socialhandoff.com > Connections, create a key for Claude Desktop scoped to LinkedIn with draft and schedule permissions.
- Paste the stdio config Add the mcpServers block from the key dialog to claude_desktop_config.json. It runs npx -y socialhandoff-mcp with your URL and key. Restart the app.
- Load your voice Ask Claude to call get_brand_memory before writing, so it follows your voice rules and banned topics.
- Draft and schedule Claude calls draft_post with networks set to linkedin, then schedule_post for the slot.
- Approve Read the post in the inbox or on your phone, edit inline if needed, and approve.
Example draft
The hardest hire I made this year was our first salesperson. Not because the candidate was wrong. Because we were not ready. We had 11 customers, and each one had bought for a different reason. There was no pitch to hand over, only my memory of 11 conversations. For the first 2 months, she mostly shadowed me and wrote down what worked. That document became the pitch. It was 4 pages, and 3 of them were objections. By month 4 she was closing deals I had never seen. What I would tell another founder: do not hire a salesperson to find the pitch. Hire one to scale a pitch you can already write down, or be ready to write it together.
Gotchas
- LinkedIn has no threads. If Claude sends a thread array, the parts are joined into one post with blank lines between them, so ask for a single post from the start.
- Characters such as parentheses, brackets, @, #, and underscores are markup in LinkedIn's API. They are escaped automatically before publish, so write normally; do not add backslashes yourself.
- LinkedIn allows one image per post here, with alt text. If you attach more, only the first image is used.
- Character limit: 3,000 characters for a post. The feed shows the first few lines and hides the rest behind a see more link.
- Media per post: LinkedIn allows multi-image posts, documents, and video. SocialHandoff publishes 1 image per post.
- Alt text: Supported on images through the API's alt text field. Not available for video or documents.
- Threads: LinkedIn has no threads. If a draft has several parts, SocialHandoff joins them into one post.
Frequently asked questions
What is the LinkedIn length limit?
3,000 characters per post. The per-network length guardrail flags drafts above it before they reach review.
Can I post to a company page?
The connected LinkedIn account decides where posts go. Connect the account you want, then scope the key to it.
