Draft LinkedIn posts in Cursor while you build

Founders who build in Cursor tend to post about their product in bursts, then go quiet for weeks. The material is always there: a feature merged, a customer request solved, a hard decision in the code. Cursor's agent can read that work and turn it into a LinkedIn post aimed at buyers, not developers. SocialHandoff queues the draft so you can batch-approve posts on Friday instead of breaking focus mid-task.

Prompt

@src/billing/ We just added usage-based invoices. Write a LinkedIn post for finance leads at mid-size SaaS companies explaining what changes for them, not how we coded it. About 120 words, plain language, one clear call to try it. Draft it for LinkedIn.

How to do it

  1. Mint a key In Connections, create a Cursor key scoped to LinkedIn with the draft permission.
  2. Add the server Add an entry to .cursor/mcp.json (or the global config) with url https://app.socialhandoff.com/mcp and a Bearer Authorization header.
  3. Check the tools Confirm the server is enabled in Cursor's MCP settings.
  4. Draft from context Reference the relevant folder with @ and ask for a buyer-facing post. Cursor calls draft_post with networks set to linkedin.
  5. Batch approve Review all pending LinkedIn drafts in the inbox at once and approve the ones that are ready.

Example draft

Invoices that match what you actually used.

Starting today, customers on usage plans get an itemized invoice each month: every metered feature, the quantity, and the rate, on one page.

For finance teams, that means no more reconciling our dashboard against a single line item. The invoice is the reconciliation.

If you are on a usage plan, your next invoice will look like this automatically. If you have been waiting for this before switching, now is a good time to try it.

Gotchas

  • Ask for the buyer's view explicitly. Cursor's context is code, and without direction the post drifts into implementation details.
  • LinkedIn limit is 3,000 characters, but posts over about 1,300 get cut behind "see more" early. The length guardrail only enforces the hard limit.
  • Symbols from code, such as underscores or angle brackets, are escaped before publish. They display as typed, which rarely reads well on LinkedIn.
LinkedIn
  • Character limit: 3,000 characters for a post. The feed shows the first few lines and hides the rest behind a see more link.
  • Media per post: LinkedIn allows multi-image posts, documents, and video. SocialHandoff publishes 1 image per post.
  • Alt text: Supported on images through the API's alt text field. Not available for video or documents.
  • Threads: LinkedIn has no threads. If a draft has several parts, SocialHandoff joins them into one post.

Frequently asked questions

Can I attach a screenshot?
Yes, one image per LinkedIn post, with alt text. Missing alt text is flagged by a guardrail before review.
Can Cursor schedule the post?
If the key has the schedule permission, it can call schedule_post with a date, time, and timezone.
