Opening a new role or re-sharing a role that needs more applicants.

Hiring post templates that attract the right applicants

Use these when you open a role and want your network to see it. A good hiring post answers what a candidate checks first: what the work is, who they would work with, where it is, and what it pays. Vague posts get volume; specific posts get fit. Each variant ends with how to apply.

Tips

  • Include the pay range. Many regions require it by law in job ads, and posts with ranges tend to attract applicants who have already self-selected on compensation.
  • Describe the first 90 days instead of listing adjectives like 'rockstar' or 'ninja'. Concrete tasks help people picture the job.
  • Name one requirement you are flexible on. It widens the pool without lowering the bar.
  • Ask for referrals explicitly in the last line. Many of the best hires come from a friend of a follower.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a LinkedIn hiring post be?
Around 100 to 200 words is enough to cover the work, team, location, pay, and how to apply. Put the job title and location in the first two lines, since LinkedIn truncates the rest behind a 'see more' link.
Should I post the same role on every network?
Post it where your candidates spend time. LinkedIn suits most roles, X and Bluesky work for technical and creative roles, and Mastodon works well for roles tied to open source communities.
